How to improve your teen’s argument analysis

Argument analysis has been part of the VCE English/EAL study design for many, many, MANY years, in one form or another. And it will continue to be a part of the new study design!

So how can we help our teens lift improve their analysis?

Much of this skill is actually linked to our teens’ vocabulary, specifically, their range of verbs. The way I explain it to students is this:

AnalysING is a verb, so the verb in the sentence is where the analysis is!

Students will often reach for the simplest, easiest verb because they don’t realise this is where the analysing happens – so make sure you work with your student in expanding their vocabulary!

Not sure how to help your student expand their vocabulary? We have vocabulary expansion packs right here for your use!
